Double Din Dash Kit

Before starting the actual work, make sure that you have disconnected the battery ground (-) cable at the battery. And remember that the positive terminal (+) must be connected first. If possible, try to remove the battery.

• First you need to remove your old stereo system, in order to install the new one. For this all you need is a multi-purpose screwdriver and a simple instrumental kit like double din dash kit or metra Kit.
• Now disconnect the stereo wires from the battery. Several cars have stereos mounted on four small clips, which hold the stereo in place.
• First thing to do is remove the faceplate of the car stereo. I bought JVC faceplate for my car stereo.
• Remove the bolts that hold the stereo in place. Remove the stereo ground strap. Disconnect the antenna lead, which is connected at the far end. Now pull the stereo out.

Installing a new stereo:

• If you are unable to find a wiring harness to your car, then connect each wire by yourself.  If you find the right one, installation is much easier. All you have to do is plug the wiring harness into the plug.
• If you didn’t have a wiring harness then it will make your job a bit tougher. You have to connect the positive wire from the speaker to the positive connector on the stereo. Now take the negative wire from the speaker and connect it into the negative connector. Then connect the negative wire of the stereo to the bolt where the radio is connected and the positive wires to the stereo.
• Now all the wires are connected to all the plugs and put the panel on. Now slide the stereo in. Simple as it gets. Then connect the negative wire back to the battery and start the car. Put a CD or a pen drive or whatever MP3 storage device in and check whether your stereo is playing. If Yes, then screw in the panel properly.
